Christmas dinner 2011 @ Madam sixty ate

Starter:  La Vigilia Feast of the seven fishes Seared Scallop, cod brandade, white anchovies, squid cracker, prawn tortellini, Poached lobster and sashimi of hamachi Crozes Hermitage - E.Guigal. Marsanne, Rhone Valley, France 2008 Tasting notes: Truly impressed by the squid ink cracker. Never imagine squid ink could be fried and turned into a cracker and it tasted yum. Scallop and lobster were so fresh and nicely cooked. Others were okay but not outstanding as mentioned. Soup: Bonito consomme, cannelloni of barley, aubergine crackers, grilled eel and sesame Reserve - Villa Maria Estate, Chardonnay Marlborough, New Zealand 2007 Tasting notes: the portion was good. Like the broth, it was light but intense with favours. Didn't like the aubergine crackers as they were a bit burned. Eel and cannelloni were highlight of the dish. Main: Breast of goose, roast blood orange puree, crusted eschallots, Gingerbread pudding and foie gras sauce

My favourite restaurant in town

I seldom recommend restaurant to friends because I really want to recommend something from the bottom of my heart. Luckily there is one finally! @ Madam sixty ate Christmas lunch menu: The pork, pumpkin pudding were amazing. I am not a dessert person and I don't like pears dessert, but this one was spot on and love it. The texture of the pears was perfect, taste was just right, not too sweet and not too light. Even the fried mint leave was yummy. Left an empty plate. Starter  Homage to the English Housewife: Pulled pork pate with cured duck ham and crisp pigeon leg, fresh dates, fig cream and Autumn nut crumble Main Private Ham: Pickled pork loin with crisp bread stuffing of eschallots, sage and chestnuts and pumpkin pie with peppered cranberry foam Dessert Eggnog cream with Christmas spiced pears, mulled wine jellies and hot chocolate About $220 per person

香港人是否不再愛香港了?

我是在港英政府下孕育出來的孩子,不知不覺培養出愛香港,要捍衛這片土地的精神。小時候看新聞, 議員在立法局討論政策,雖然我不太明白他們在討論什麼,但我知道他們是為香港做事,為香港好。那一刻,我想我長大後也要加入立法局, 為香港做事。 這個只有幾秒的志願一直都被遺忘了。除此以外,我從來沒有志願。 今天回家途中,收音機正在報導兩電加價的決定, 中電加幅是9.2﹪。朋友不自主地罵了起來,的士司機很快也加入,繼而說出自回歸後種種的不滿, 政府只懂奉承中央,地產商勢力不斷擴大,越來越違背了良心,失去核心價值。 在言語間我完全感受到的士司機對香港濃厚的愛及感情,比我還要深還要激 昂。把我遺忘已久的精神也一併喚回來,而我不由自主地哭了起來。哭是因為我真的感覺那個我喜愛,我驕傲港英時代的香港真的在消失,而我不知怎樣做。感覺力量很小,不知怎去對抗。以往我只懂離開這個地方而不是去救她? 連我也放棄,就連我一份小小的力量也沒了。 的士司機最後的一句話說:「後生的,靠你們了!站出來, 盡公民責任。」

Daniel - NYC

Daniel- a three Michelin Star Relais & Chateaux member. I went there for my friend's birthday in 2011. She wanted to go to the Per se in the first place. It asks for exact 30 days in advance booking. Saw online booking was availabe, that was fantastic especially for those who do not live in US.  I did the booking at exact 12 am on the web. Obviously, it was not working. We made several attempts, still not working. My friend called from London, they said "online booking is not available", you have to call for reservation. Then here she was, she called. Then we were told it was full already. What a relief to me because I think they are extremely over priced. Also heard same comment from tripadvisor.com. So here we come, Daniel! The deco of Daniel was elegant and comfy. Booking was not difficult as well.
